Grace

27 May, 2007

Grace

As Christians, the thing that we cling to is the Grace of God. This word grace sets us apart and gives us a joy in which to live. Grace is God’s unmerited and undeserved favour, poured out through His Son Jesus Christ. It is this grace that saves us, not because of anything we have done or because we deserve it, but because He knows that we cannot rescue ourselves.

Grace has broken the chains of sin and death that once held us, but this grace was never meant to wipe out a life that strives to Honour and glorify God and to live for Him. It was never meant to be a licence to sin, knowing the punishment has already been paid, it was meant for the opposite. True grace is seen through a grater desire and passion to serve and live for the one who set us free, not to gain any approval or to make us look better, but out of a joy that comes from knowing that we have already been approved and saved my the blood of Jesus.

Grace and works, intimacy and fear – they are both sides of the same truth, and it is finding the balance where God’s saving and freeing grace causes and fuels us to live out a life that honours God and reflects His glory.

Scalextric

27 May, 2007

It was Marks birthday on Thursday, so last nite we had a surprise party for him, but not just your regular party – few friends, food etc, we went to play scalectrix!

‘Come on, that’s gonna be boring!’ I’m sure your thinking, and so did I went the idea was put forward, but it was actually amazing! there were 18 of us which, with 6 lanes, meant 3 group qualifiers with the top 2 from each group making the final. Each group heat consisted of 6 races allowing everyone to use each car once. I started out well on the yellow car, winning, but as i reached the red and greens cars, my luck wasn’t so good! Thankfully I redeemed myself and ended up qualifying first in my group!

The final was gonna be tough, me and rick from my group and clarke, scott simon and ivan from the others… I should have been in for a good chance at at least coming 2nd or 3rd.. or so I thought. I was terrible, every race crashing out after 1 or 2 laps, the pressure just got to me and I think I ended up last! The night however was a really great one, and ill definitely be wanting to go back for another go, and try to beat my fastest lap of 10.9 seconds!
