As Christians, the thing that we cling to is the Grace of God. This word grace sets us apart and gives us a joy in which to live. Grace is God’s unmerited and undeserved favour, poured out through His Son Jesus Christ. It is this grace that saves us, not because of anything we have done or because we deserve it, but because He knows that we cannot rescue ourselves.
Grace has broken the chains of sin and death that once held us, but this grace was never meant to wipe out a life that strives to Honour and glorify God and to live for Him. It was never meant to be a licence to sin, knowing the punishment has already been paid, it was meant for the opposite. True grace is seen through a grater desire and passion to serve and live for the one who set us free, not to gain any approval or to make us look better, but out of a joy that comes from knowing that we have already been approved and saved my the blood of Jesus.
Grace and works, intimacy and fear – they are both sides of the same truth, and it is finding the balance where God’s saving and freeing grace causes and fuels us to live out a life that honours God and reflects His glory.
